They came; They sword (cough); We conquered!

• February 1st, 2010

But don’t let it get you Bowns.

That’s a pun double-whammy, that is.

Does anyone read this bit any more or do people just listen to the show?

Anyways, this show is cracking.  Nigel McFarlane says “Bangin’” and Sir Tony of Hand talks fighting.  Fo’ sho’.

Enjoy

bjknight

NKOTB, Wallace gets podcasted

• January 25th, 2010
He’s only been here five minutes and he’s already had a microphone shoved in front of him.  It had to happen.
Yes, Stephen Wallace has joined the Phoenix from Sheffield.  What an opening weekend for him, too!  A forceful and energetic forward who has already brought a degree of rejuvenation to the Phoenix now joins Ben on the podcast and talks fights (including “that” one), goals and serving it on his old team.
What with The Great One dropping the gloves this week for the first time in a decade or two (must be?!), there’s something a little special for you coming up too.  All I can tell you is that it’ll be a clip that appears ONLY on the Rock Radio Phoenix pages and comes from over the water.  It’ll be up on that site on Wednesday.  Watch that space.  And don’t forget to leave feedback so Rock Radio know how much you love them sponsoring the Phoenix.
There’ll be a show from Thursday night’s home game and then an “away weekend” show/highlights show after the weekend.  Can’t say fairer than that, really.
Remember, you can now email the show with your words and pictures.  If you send a message during a game, the podcast team will check it out and discuss during the period break chat.  Just drop Ben a line to podcast@manchesterphoenix.co.uk

(Penalty)-Shot Down By Flames

• January 20th, 2010
These puns are getting worse.
Anyway, Sunday’s Rock The Rink promotion was a huge success off the ice.  A huge crowd in the Ice Dome and £4,000 up for grabs on the ice with Moose made for an atmosphere of pure energy.  That energy translated into edge-of-seat tension by the end of the 3rd period.
Relive the highs and lows of one of the most exciting games this season on this week’s show with Nigel McFarlane, Cookie-Monster, Tambo, Shazza, Mr. Predictor and, for the first time, Stevie-G.
Listen to the doom and gloom peddled by all (oops!) in the first period break and listen to the sound of podcasters munching their words by the end of the second.
Not for the first time, the man of the match in the rink was not the same as from the podcasters as Ben Knight chats with Greg Wood and, another first, Moose off of Rock Radio after the sudden death penalty shoot-out left the Phoenix with one point.
Coming-up this week on the Rock Radio Phoenix page will be a bit of strategic talk and a bit of fighting talk as the lads face MK away and the Wildcats at the Dome.
**Thanks to Becky, Peter and Mark who all emailed the podcast during the game this week.  If you have an email-enabled phone with you on match night, why not give your views before, during and after play and see what the podcasters think.  Drop them a line at podcast@manchesterphoenix.co.uk **

Phantoms vanquished

…and Paddy admits to loving Payette!  What an episode it is.

And the end of game interview is with Robert Lachowicz.  Got in a sneaky question about those Nottingham rumours too…

Listen and enjoy, y’all!

Steady on now…

• January 5th, 2010
A new year and a lot of controversy - This podcast contains the word ,”crap”.
The snow and ice outside the Dome did nothing to stop people getting hot under the collar over the most controversial game of the season, so far.
When that game started, most of us hoped for a win, predicted a near loss and a few of us imagined an overtime ending.  Despite this, the scoreline of 6-7 to Slough was surprising.
Rowdy fans, a leaky defence (sorry boys!), the odd interesting call, and a bit of rough-and-tumble are all up for discussion in the show this week and the podcasting regulars were getting as worked-up as the players.  This episode is not for those of a nervous disposition.  Pretty much everyone comes in for a bit of grief.  That’s sports fans for you!
And at the end of it all, poor Adam Walker gets the tough questions about what went wrong.  Naturally, some of you may have figured-out that the Walker interview was available on Monday from the Rock Radio website.  Worth knowing if you want to get the view from the ice, hot off the press.  Go there now and set your bookmarks!
As for the pre-weekend interview on Rock Radio (available from Thursday), you will have to wait and see who is prepared to come out with the fighting talk.  A familiar face in the Peterborough line-up on Saturday may well turn a few heads and will certainly attract some particular attention from the Phoenix boys as they set out to turn around the recent icy slide.  But can they do it?

Guildford not on fire. But Mr Predictor is!

• December 14th, 2009

Yep.  Mr Predicitor is beginning to get quite a following, it seems.  So much so that, if you want to send in your fanmail for him, you can send it to podcast@manchesterphoenix.co.uk

Few predicted the 5-1 outcome but Mr Predictor was pretty much there with a 6-2 prediction.

What a belter Ryan Johnson had too.  For me, by far and away the MOM even though the Powers That Be gave that honour to Adam Summerfield.  So this is why I caught up with him at the end of the match.

On Thursday, get to the Rock Radio Phoenix pages and check out Adam Walker’s pre-weekend interview.  One thing’s for sure, the Phoenix are determined to hold on to that top spot and this is going to be a tough weekend after the second loss to bogey team, Romford.
